Coastal North Somerset
I planned a late afternoon trip to Burnham-on-Sea, a charismatic coastal town with many unique, quirky qualities. From the vast expanse of mudflats to the delightful, alluring nine-legged wooden lighthouse. My goal was to capture the elusive ephemeral sunset tones and glows along the North Somerset coastline - it did not disappoint...
Stopping off at a nearby woodland, it is bluebell season and a full display of carpeted, deep violet-blue was breathtaking. I could of spent hours in this location alone - definitely a moment to savour. Packing just two lenses for my trip, the 10-20mm wide-angle lens was an ideal choice for the sweeping vistas of the mudflats at low-tide, capturing those vibrant hues during golden hour. Whilst the 18-140mm lens can compress the perspective - emphasising the lighthouse's grandeur, it's also a great versatile lens to try other subjects of photography also!
The sunset was undoubtedly the highlight of the evening. During my wait, I experimented with the Drone also and questioned my patience to wait out until evening to try my hand at some more astrophotography (I will return). The sky quickly transformed into a kaleidoscope of warm hues, casting a golden glow over the mudflats and the sea. With the unique blend of natural beauty and tranquillity, it's a terrific photographer's spot - I'm already looking forward to exploring a couple of nearby locations that are on my radar soon...
