Exploring rural Somerset
Autumn is finally here, and a change of season is something I always find quite rejuvenating... To be able to explore nature and witness those rich, colourful textures and tones during this time of year is a photographer's paradise. A window of opportunity became available to see what could be captured through the lens. Unfortunately, it's also during this time of year that I often overwhelm myself with the endless image list I wish to achieve - where is the best place to go, when are the best conditions?! The map and weather forecast is something I typically overanalyse at the best of times...
I made plans to venture out into the depths of Somerset during the early hours of the morning. Having parked the car, I gave my lenses one last quick clean - I still had some time to practice a brief stint of astrophotography underneath the dark morning sky. There's something mystically therapeutic about the process of capturing the stars out in the countryside! With sunrise fast approaching, I made my way into the dense woodland - stopping off at several points of interest to capture the dramatic clouds that were unfolding before my eyes. Whilst covering a lot of walking distance, not really knowing what to expect - it can be remarkable what nature can showcase during an exploration!
Having packed the drone too, light winds provided me a chance to capture an aerial shot of the complex labyrinth of trees that I was admittedly lost in (a drone is also a useful tool to provide a reference point)! During the Autumnal months, it can be difficult to know what's best when it comes to photography, if only there was a way to freeze time and enjoy those special moments for a little longer...
